No Brady And No Preseason Wins For Patriots
As if we didn't know this already: The New England Patriots would be in big, big trouble without Tom Brady.
Brady sat out his third straight preseason game and the New England offense sputtered again Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Backup Matt Cassel started in Brady's place and, for a third straight game, failed to get the Patriots into the end zone. It's only the preseason but Cassel doesn't look capable at this point in his career of filling in effectively for Brady for even a short stretch during the regular season.
Brady did practice on Wednesday after skipping the Patriots' trip to Tampa last weekend because of a sore foot. There's little reason to put a three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback on the field during the exhibition season with a bad foot, so it's possible that Brady's first game action since last season's Super Bowl will come in the regular season opener.
