Nothing Decisive For Ravens or Niners in QB Competitions

Updates on a couple quarterback competitions...

In Baltimore, Troy Smith got the start for the Ravens on Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings but didn't exactly make a convincing case he should be the starter. He threw an interception in a 3-for-5, 25-yard passing night. He also was sacked twice but he ran for 35 yards on three carries.

Coach John Harbaugh said after the game it hadn't been determined whether Smith or Kyle Boller will start the Ravens' third preseason game, although he did indicate that both were more game-ready at this point than rookie Joe Flacco.

Boller also threw an interception against the Vikings.

In San Francisco, J.T. O'Sullivan connected on eight of 17 passes for 154 yards, with a touchdown pass and an interception, in a win over the Green Bay Packers.

The journeyman started his second straight preseason game for the 49ers, and seemingly did enough to stay surprisingly ahead of Alex Smith and Shaun Hill in the club's quarterback derby.
