P. Burress Still Sitting Out Giants' Practices

Wide receiver Plaxico Burress continues to sit out the New York Giants' practices.

The problem is said to be Burress's ailing ankle, not discontent over not getting the new contract he wants.

The Giants have remained relatively patient because Burress didn't practice last season and still produced in games.

Now he is saying in public comments that he wants to be fully healthy before he practices. He also is saying he no longer expects to get a new contract from the Giants.

If negotiations remain at a standstill, there undoubtedly will be lingering questions about whether Burress's lack of practice-field activity is related to the lack of progress in contract talks.
