Packers, R. Grant Have Deal

The Green Bay Packers haven't resolved the Brett Favre situation but had settled another pressing matter, agreeing to a contract with tailback Ryan Grant.

Grant agreed to a four-year deal worth as much as $30 million.

Grant had missed training camp last week to try to get a better deal than the Packers had been offering. He had little leverage in the offseason because he was an exclusive rights free agent, meaning that the Packers retained his rights. But he was a key to the Packers' success last season after being obtained in a trade with the New York Giants, and the club managed to rid itself of one headache as it tries to resolve the Favre matter.
