Pennington Chase Under Way

CLEVELAND--A half-dozen teams are said to have expressed interest in just-released Jets quarterback Chad Pennington.

An NFL source said that Pennington's representatives had heard from the Chiefs, Bills, Raiders, Panthers, Dolphins and Giants.

The Chiefs were an obvious suitor because they're coached by former Jets coach Herman Edwards. The Dolphins don't have a clear-cut starter. Those two teams might be Pennington's best options, at least so far, if he wants a chance to start. That opportunity might present itself in Buffalo as well but Pennington would have to be a backup with the Giants, Panthers and, mostly likely, the Raiders.
