Rooneys to Meet With Goodell Today

The five Rooney brothers reportedly are scheduled to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell today to discuss the ownership of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The meeting is scheduled for this morning at the league's offices in New York, Pittsburgh newspapers reported.

Dan Rooney, the Steelers' chairman and one of the league's most influential owners, is attempting to maintain control of the franchise.

He and each of his brothers own 16 percent of the team, with the remaining 20 percent being owned outside the Rooney family. Billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller has offered to purchase a controlling interest in the team.

Goodell enlisted his predecessor as NFL commissioner, Paul Tagliabue, to attempt to craft a resolution.
