Ryan Gets Falcons' Starting Job

The Atlanta Falcons have chosen prized rookie Matt Ryan to be their starting quarterback entering the regular season.

He was the third overall selection in the NFL draft in April and now has won a competition with Chris Redman, Joey Harrington and D.J. Shockley.

Ryan made his first start of the preseason Friday and completed 15 of 21 passes against the Tennessee Titans.

The Falcons open the regular season on Sept. 7 against the Detroit Lions.
