S. Jackson Rejoining Rams, Gets New Contract

Tailback Steven Jackson has agreed to a new contract with the St. Louis Rams and is rejoining the team today.

Jackson traveled to St. Louis on Wednesday and his agent, Eugene Parker, continued to negotiate with the Rams into the night. The Rams had refused to negotiate a new contract with Jackson until he agreed to rejoin the club.

The running back held out for nearly four weeks seeking an upgraded contact. An NFL source said the new deal is worth an average of about $7 million per season.

The Rams open the regular season at Philadelphia on Sept. 7 and hope to have Jackson in the lineup against the Eagles.
