Steelers Negotiating With Leftwich

The Pittsburgh Steelers are negotiating a contract with free agent quarterback Byron Leftwich, who could be signed as Ben Roethlisberger's at-least-temporary backup.

The former Jacksonville Jaguars starter has been out of work since being released by the Atlanta Falcons after last season.

Leftwich would replace the injured Charlie Batch as Roethlisberger's understudy. Batch is to be sidelined 4-6 weeks because of a broken collarbone.
