Strahan Reportedly Would Consider Return For Right Price
It was thought when Michael Strahan retired in the offseason that the New York Giants could have lured the defensive end back for one more season with an offer of $8 million. Strahan had been scheduled to earn $4 million this season, and the Giants weren't willing at the time to offer more than $6.5 million.
Strahan's price perhaps has not changed.
The New York Daily News reported today that the Giants would have a chance to lure Strahan out of retirement with a sincere lobbying effort and $8 million.
The defending Super Bowl champions learned Sunday that they'd be without defensive end Osi Umenyiora all season because of cartilage damage in his left knee suffered during Saturday night's preseason game against the New York Jets.
Umenyiora is scheduled to undergo surgery Tuesday and faces a four-month recovery period. Giants Coach Tom Coughlin was asked about Strahan during a conference call with reporters Sunday and did not rule out the team asking Strahan to play.
Strahan now is an NFL analyst with Fox and reportedly was vacationing in Greece on Sunday. He told the NFL Network he's happy in retirement but it's "premature" to say whether he would return to the Giants if asked.
