T. Brady Doesn't Accompany Pats to Tampa Because of Sore Foot

Quarterback Tom Brady did not accompany the New England Patriots to Tampa for tonight's preseason game against the Buccaneers.

Brady reportedly is resting a sore foot.

It's not clear if it's the same foot on which Brady was photographed wearing a boot during the buildup to last season's Super Bowl. Brady played that game with a high ankle sprain in his right leg suffered during the AFC title game.

Brady reportedly practiced Thursday but did not practice Friday. He said during the offseason that his ankle was fine.

Backups Matt Cassel, Matt Gutierrez and Kevin O'Connell are to split the playing time tonight for the Patriots.
