Badminton Duo Makes History

Bob Malaythong of Rockville and his partner, Howard Bach, became the first American team to advance to an Olympic quarterfinals in badminton, defeating the Republic of South Africa team of Chris and Roelof Dednam, 21-10, 21-6 Tuesday morning at the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium.

Their next opponent will be the No. 2-seeded Chinese team of Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng on Wednesday.
