(Update) Canoe/Kayak: Zur, Johnson Advance

Rami Zur placed third in his heat to advance to the semifinals in the men's 500m single kayak in competition at the Shunyi Rowing-Canoeing Park Tuesday afternoon.

Zur had a time of 1:39.037, which was 0.641 behind the heat's winner, Michael Kolganov of Israel.

The semifinals will be run beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Zur qualified on Monday for the semifinals in the 1,000 meter event.

Teammate Carrie Johnson advanced to the semifinals in the women's single kayak 500m event. She placed fourth in her heat with a time of 1:50.221, 1.357 seconds off the pace of heat winner Josefa Idem of Italy, who went straight through to the final with a time of 1:48.864.
