Eller Shoots Down Gold
Glenn Eller claimed the Olympic gold medal in the men's double trap shooting event, competed Tuesday at the Beijing Shooting Range CTF.
Entering the final round with a four-point advantage, Eller got off to a shaky start, missing both targets on his first trip to the firing line. He was nearly perfect from there on, though, missing only three more targets the rest of the way. His final score of 190 set a finals Olympic record, breaking the old mark of 189.
The silver medal went to Italy's Francesco D'Aniello, who had a score of 187, while the bronze medal was won by Hu Binyuan of China with a 184. American Jeff Holguin posted a 42 in the final round to finish with a 182, leaving him in fourth place.
