Kayak: Johnson, Zur Eliminated

Carrie Johnson narrowly missed advancing to the finals in the women's single kayak (K-1W) 500m race, placing fourth in her semifinal Thursday afternoon at Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park.

Johnson covered the 500 meters in 1:53.721, 0.512 seconds behind the third-place boat of Jennifer Hodson of South Africa. The top three boats in the semifinals advance to the finals. The semifinal was won by Inna Osypenko-Radomska of the Ukraine with a time of 1:51.558.

Rami Zur was eliminated earlier in the men's single (K-1) 500 meter event by placing sixth in his semifinal.

His time of 1:47.163 was 4.725 seconds behind the winning effort of Adam van Koeverden of Canada, who posted a 1:42.438. Zur was 3.823 seconds behind the third-place boat of Australia's Ken Wallace, which was the cut-off to advance to Saturday's final.
