Richards Cruises Into 400 Final

Sanya Richards ran the third-fastest time of 2008 in the semifinal round of the 400 meters tonight, easily advancing to Tuesday's final, but two other Americans bowed out.
Richards, who ran hard before easing up just before the finish, crossed the line in 49.90 seconds, her second-best time of the season and the best time of the night.
"I feel like I can win it from a slow start or a fast start," Richards said. "I feel like I can just taste it now."
Immediately after the race, however, Richard stopped and knelt down for a couple of minutes while passing through a row of television cameras until someone gave her a bottle of water.
"I was going through the lights and everything and I got light-headed," she said later. "I feel great now."
Richards also said she suffered briefly from stomach pain during the U.S. track and field team's training camp in Dalian, China, but said the problem did not cause her to miss any training.
Americans Mary Wineberg, who finished fifth in her heat in 51.13, and Deedee Trotter, who was seventh in her heat in 51.87, did not advance.
Great Britain's Christine Ohuruogo (50.14) and Jamaica's Shericka Williams (50.28) posted the second- and third-best times.
