Russia's Isinbayeva Wins PV Gold; Sets WR

Russian Isinbayeva clinched her second straight Olympic gold medal and 14th straight victory in a major competition when American Jenn Stuczynski bowed out of the pole vault competition after three misses at 16-feet, 0.75 inches. Stuczynski, who cleared 15-9, secured the silver medal, her first Olympic medal.
With the gold medal clinched, Isinbayeva, who needed just two jumps to clear 15-11, fouled on her first two attempts at 16-2.75. After preparing herself under a large white duvet, Isinbayeva cleared on her third attempt.
Isinbayeva next attempted 16-6.75 and hit the mark--her 24th world record--on her third attempt.
