(Update) Softball: U.S. Beats Japan
The U.S. women's softball team, unbeaten at these Games, took a 4-1 victory over Japan this morning.
Tne Americans scored all their runs in the top of the ninth inning. Caitlin Lowe drove in the first run with a single and Jessica Mendoza drew a walk before Crystl Bustos slammed a three-run homer.
Monica Abbott started the bottom of the ninth, but gave up a run. Cat Osterman, on in relief, got the final three outs.
The winner will advance to the gold medal game.
