Softball: U.S. Keeps Rolling
The U.S. softball team scored all its runs in the first inning to record a 9-0, five-inning victory over host China Monday afternoon at the Fengtai Softball Field.
Cat Osterman allowed one hit to improve to 3-0, striking out three and walking one in the complete-game shutout. Kelly Kretschman led the U.S. offense, going 2-3 with a three-run home run, adding to the Olympic Games record of 13 hit by the U.S. team in Beijing.
Standing 7-0 at the end of preliminary play, the U.S. moves on to the semifinals, which begin Wednesday.
