Swim Flash: U.S. 1-2 in Backstroke

Aaron Peirsol won the gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke, breaking his own world record in 52.54 seconds.

Peirsol set the world mark of 52.89 seconds at the Olympic trials last month in Omaha.

Teammate Matt Grevers won the silver and Arkady Vyatchanin of Russia and Hayden Stoeckel of Australia tied for the bronze.
