Table Tennis: Gao Advances

Gao Jun of Gaithersburg and partner Crystal Huang defeated the Netherlands, 3-1, to keep their bronze medal hopes.

Next up for the U.S. team is a match with Nigeria at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Peking University Gymnasium.

A win will give the U.S. the No. 2 seed in their group and move them into the bronze medal bracket of the tournament.

Gao Jun is just one of many excellent players in the Washington area. I encourage anyone who is interested in playing table tennis, or in taking lessons from top players, to check out the new Joola club in Rockville (www.clubjoola.com/rockville). The club has excellent playing facilities, is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and needs the community's support to remain financially viable. Please drop by to see the great facility. (I'm just a player, by the way, and have no financial affiliation with the club.)
