Tough Loss for AU's Brad Vering

Brad Vering, one of the Americans' top medal hopes in wrestling, just lost to Armenia's Denis Forov in his second match of the day in the 84 kg division, and his hopes of advancing appear grim at this point. Vering, a volunteer assistant coach at American University, was in perfect position to advance, but was flipped and taken down in the third and final period.

Forov is an accomplished wrestler, having won the 2003 Junior World championship (he was wrestling for Russia at the time) and took second in the 2006 European Championships. But for Vering to advance, he needs Forov to make it to the finals, which will require Forov to win two more matches today, the second of which would be against the defending Olympic and world champion, Russian's Aleksey Mishin.
