Track: Symmonds Advances in 800
American Nick Symmonds finished first in his heat in the first round of the 800 meters Wednesday, advancing to the second round. Symmonds finished in 1 minute, 46.01 seconds, the 11th best time among 61 runners who competed in eight heats. Fellow Americans Andrew Wheating (1:47.05) and Christian Smith (1:48.20) failed to advance.
