Water Polo: U.S. Advances to Play for Gold

Behind an offensive onslaught in the fourth quarter and the outstanding goalkeeping of Merrill Moses, the United States advanced to the gold medal match of the men's water polo tournament with a 10-5 victory over Serbia tonight at Yingdong Natatorium.

Leading by two goals after three periods, the Americans put the Serbians away in the fourth with goals by Tony Azevedo, Rick Merlo and Jeffrey Powers to build a 10-5 lead. With Powers's goal -- a rocket from well outside the goal mouth with 2:25 remaining -- American coach Terry Schroeder shot both his arms in the air, and the substitutes on the bench began hugging.

An American fan base in the stands saying, "Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye" to the Serbians in the final minute, and in the final minute, after he made two slaves, Moses thrust his right fist in the air toward the crowd, which waved flags and cheered.

The final against Hungary is Sunday.

That's why we call Merrill Moses the "Slave Master."
