Who Cares For Short Shorts?
The U.S. Men's Olympic Volleyball team brought some attention to itself earlier this summer with a funny video about its desire for longer shorts. FIVB requires players to have their shorts at least four inches above the knee, which didn't sit well with some members of the team, including outside hitter Reid Priddy. Priddy has a passion for video editing and encouraged his teammates to join him in mocking the John Stockton/Daisy Duke-approved specials.
Priddy wasn't at the team press conference on Tuesday, leaving his teammates to address the issue, which really isn't an issue - especially after the Americans won the World League Championship a few weeks ago in Rio de Janeiro in those same little shorts.
"I feel somewhat sexy in them," setter Lloy Ball said of the short shorts. "But I have a very nice pair of legs - unlike some other gentlemen up here. I don't think it's a real issue. [The video] was made more out of jest. [Short shorts] so uncommon, for an NBA lifestyle in America. We like our shorts to be long and baggy. These are kind of tight and bun-huggerish, but that's what we got and we're winning in them. Maybe we should make them tighter. I think our female fans may like it."
