Zur Advances in Flatwater Kayak

Rami Zur placed sixth in qualifying heats for the men's 1000m single kayak in racing at the Shunyi Rowing-Canoeing Park Monday afternoon. He advanced to the semifinals, which will be held on Wednesday.

Zur got off to a bad start, posting the slowest time among the nine-boat field over the first 250m. He then found his rhythm, laying down the second fastest 250m split of the race to pull himself up from ninth to sixth. He had the top 250m splits in for the second and fourth segments of the race to cross the line at 3:38.693, 9.071 seconds behind the heat winner, Adam van Koerverden of Canada, who covered the course in 3:29.622.
