Eventing Team Keeps Phillips

Captain Mark Phillips will remain the U.S. Eventing Chef d'Euipe and technical advisor through the World Equestrian Games in 2010 in Lexington, Ky., and the 2012 Games in London.

In 16 years in charge of the eventing team, Phillips' teams have never failed to medal at an Olympic, World or Pan American Games. The U.S. team won gold at worlds in 2002 and David O'Connor of The Plains, Va., won individual gold at the 2000 Games in Sydney. At the 2008 Games, Gina Miles won an individual silver medal with McKinlaigh.

"We look forward to the next quadrenium with Mark continuing in his integral place in the US eventing program," said O'Connor, president of the USEF. "After mixed results at the 2008 Olympic Games, we are counting on Mark's expertise and determination to bring our team back to the medal podium both in Kentucky in 2010 and at the 2012 Olympic Games."
