Swimmers Race For Ill Coach

Four swimmers hope to raise funds for cancer-stricken coach Michael Lohberg, best known for coaching 41-year-old Olympic gold medal winner Dara Torres, according to www.swimnews.org.

Americans Randall Bal and Nick Brunelli will join their training mates with the Italian-based ADN Swim Project--Kazhakstan's Vladislav Polyakov and Serbian Milorad Cavic at the Bolzano International in Italy in a medley relay designed to earn cash for the German coach.

Lohberg was diagnosed with aplastic anemia shortly before the Beijing Games. The condition is one in which the bone marrow doesn't produce enough new cells, leading to fatigue, increased risk of infection and uncontrolled bleeding. The full story is here
