I met Lucian once. It was after a National guard thing in Newport. He was at my friend Joe's house. He and I were both out on the deck at the same time and there was a guy a block away revving his Harley. Lucian said the bike sounded really bad. In the morning Lucian was worried because his ride to the airport did not show. I called my dad who was on his way to Portland. He drove like a maniac, but he got Lucian there in time, I think. I would love to know for sure. I never forgot meeting Lucian, he was quiet, respectful, and he saw my personal worth. After the attack on the Pentagon, my alarm went off one morning when they were reading the names, and his was the first name I heard. I have never forgotten.
I will not forget.
