I collect Black Americana and black dolls. I purchased an African American, "IN MEMORY ANGEL" doll to honor those who loss their lives in 9-11’s tragedy. Quote from card, "IN MEMORY ANGEL" exclusively in New York City to honor all our family and friends who perished in the World Trade Center September 11, 2001."
The purchaser of the doll “must” insert a name on the doll’s memory card. It has taken me awhile to select an individual. I did not know anyone personally. Today when my doll crossed my mind I input, "African American 9-11 victims", in to my search engine. Meta Waller was the first name to appear on the list. This was not the first time I tried searching for a name for my doll’s card; it is the first time I felt personally connected.
After reading about Ms. Meta Waller I knew right away I wanted to add Ms. Waller’s name to my doll's "IN MEMORY ANGEL" card. I feel privileged to have an opportunity to honor Ms. Meta Waller’s memory.
