Statement from Paul Ryan spox

From Paul Ryan spokesman Conor Sweeney:

"Chairman Paul Ryan believes the Fiscal Commission was a positive step forward, whereas the President's budget represents a disappointing step backward. Ryan was an active participant in the commission's work - providing considerable input on aspects of the Co-Chairmen's proposal and working across the aisle with Democrat commissioner Alice Rivlin to propose alternative solutions. He has committed to drawing upon the ideas offered in the commission as he advance the House Republican FY2012 budget. For years, Ryan has advocated specific proposals to tackle our fiscal crisis. Ryan's solutions aim to fulfill the mission of health and retirement security, putting our budget on a path to balance and our economy on a path to prosperity. President Obama's failure to lead puts our nation on the path to bankruptcy, shredding the social safety net and fueling a debt-driven economic crisis."
