Palin's next book, "America By Heart," due Nov. 23

By Hillel Italie
AP National Writer
NEW YORK (AP) — Sarah Palin’s new book has a title, “America By Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag,” and a release date, Nov. 23, publisher HarperCollins announced Tuesday.

The Alaska ex-governor and former GOP vice presidential candidate, whose memoir “Going Rogue” has sold more than 2 million copies, has been working on a tribute to American values.

It will include “selections from classic and contemporary readings that have moved her,” according to HarperCollins, along with “the nation’s founding documents to great speeches, sermons, letters, literature and poetry, biography, and even some of her favorite songs and movies.”

The book is inspired not only by her “strong belief in the importance of family, faith, and patriotism,” but by some of the people she met last year while promoting “Going Rogue.” Palin skipped major cities such as Seattle and Los Angeles, traditional stops on most author tours, and instead focused on smaller communities more receptive to her conservative message.

“The book will also include portraits of some of the extraordinary men and women she admires and who embody her deep love of country, her strong rootedness in faith, and her profound love and appreciation of family,” the statement from HarperCollins reads.

HarperCollins spokeswoman Tina Andreadis said Palin will likely tour for “America By Heart,” but added that details were still being arranged. The book will have a first printing of 1 million copies — the initial run for “Going Rogue” was 1.5 million — and a list price of $25.99.

As with “Going Rogue,” Palin will have a collaborator, but there are “no specifics to announce yet,” Andreadis said. Conservative author Lynn Vincent worked with Palin on her memoir.

While the e-book for “Going Rogue” came out several weeks after the hardcover, the digital edition for “America By Heart” will be available at the same time.

Before the release last month of Apple’s iPad, HarperCollins and other publishers had worried that the $9.99 charged for best-sellers on Amazon.com’s Kindle reader was too low and would hurt hardcover sales. Publishers have more control over pricing under the sales model negotiated with Apple, with some e-books costing $12.99 to $14.99 when first released.

So, she's including a portrait of Obama?

THIS JUST IN FROM THE PUBLISHER: In a major coup (FYI that is a French word for the Palin-ites out there - the "p" is silent), the one and only Cookie Monster himself has agreed to write a preface announcing that the book is being brought to you by the letter "A" and the number "1."

These sponsors were chosen because anything more might indicate a developed methodology of thought and notation. "A" and "1" are just enough of a soundbite for the ex-half-term governor without having any troublesome facts to keep track of on the palm of her hand.

Only 2 million copies of Going Rogue got sold? I thought there were like 20 million tea people or whatever

When I stop at thrift stores, I like to take the Rush and Sean books and group them together. There are quite a few.
How soon will Palin's book be there?

someone told me that BP was going to tie a really long rope around palin's scrawny little bird ankles and drop her head first into the gulf of mexico to try and seal up that gushing oil well a mile below the surface.

apparently they will drop her head first into the well with the hopes that her big azzzed hairdoo will suck up oil and water like a sponge and grow to fill the opening sealing it off.

and as a *bonus*, her scrawny little kicking legs will create a vibration in the ocean that will warn ships and divers that there is a hazard at the location.

at least this is what i heard...

... did anyone else by chance?

Thank God Mrs. Palin is keeping poor unemployed ghost writers busy. That's our gal. Spreading the wealth and the BS.

Proceeds from the book will go towards the BP oil spill cleanup efforts. What's that? No? She's just going to keep the cash? Oh.

Drill, baby, drill.

She really is the teenybopper of contemporary politics. Like her teenage comrades in entertainment, she's striking while the iron's still hot. Just as tweens are tearing down their Jonas Brothers posters as they grow up, her audience is rapidly moving on to more substantial political figures and topics.

Well, maybe not--actual tweens may demonstrate more maturity and intellectual curiousity than the Palinistas.

We're discovering Palin's true philosophy – there's a sucker born every minute.

So, Palin pawns, how's that greedy winky thing workin' out for ya?

Why does Palin have to write another book. The way that she lives is like an open book. You will know what will be in the book already because we have seen it all on TV, or in the papers.

One would hope that this one will bury her in some dump in the vast cold tundra some where in Alaska and never to be heard from again.

Posted by: winemaster2 | May 12, 2010 7:43 AM | Report abuse

Of course we know that Palin is not actually WRITING a book, she is merely lending her name to sell worthless bull, just like her political career, short as it was. If the idiot media will stop wasting ink and time on this semi-literate shill, they might have room for real news and she will go away.

What about turning this one into a movie? That's where the real money is. Tina Fey could play Palin, Johnny Depp would be great as First Dude.

Posted by: dudh | May 12, 2010 8:13 AM | Report abuse

The title should be "Sarah Palin: An American Grifter."

Paris Hilton has more relevant and useful things to say about America than Sarah Palin.

Money Making Sara at it again. How much money does Palin want to make? This womam is clearly about her self and making money. She could care less about American values because she didn't work hard for any of the money she got. All she had to do is have a big mouth and say anything out of it against Obama. Sara is really racking up on those Right Wing Nuts. Thats right Sara take them for all they got...

I work in a 2 store local bookstore chain (was 3 before '09) and we sold more copies of "Going Rouge" then we did "Going Rogue". The ripping apart of Palin sold more than her "truths".
Palin- you can lead a horticulture, but you can't make her think.

Thats right Sara Take Those Right Wing Nuts for all they got... Sara makes them pay to hear her speeches, she makes them pay for her books, she makes them pay to take pictures with her, she makes them pay for everything. She's merchandise, if you have some money you can buy Palin. Good for you Palin. Drain those Right wing Nuts, thats what they get for supporting you...

It's important for us to konw if Ms. Palin will be wearing her MC HAMMER glasses at these book signings.

Palin has a "collaborator" on the book?

Has she reached the status where her ghost writer is now called her collaborator, kind of like when you get rich enough you're not "weird", you're "eccentric".

Titles to books to follow:

Faith in Christ and America

America- the Christ network

America- built to last on End Days scenarios

America- Bound to Christianity like the Taliban is bound to Islam

?

This list could go on and on

Country, God and Love ? Third title ?

Palin hasn't realized she's lost the oil lobby in Alaska when she left, but something tells me she's gearing up to reconnect to the pumps under another Bush Christian God rule.

It is interesting to note, on the Federal Reserve Note- In God We Trust - doesn't specify a religion Sarah.

THAT is where this person can not bend- same with any other religious fundamentalist - the great thinkers, the great leaders promote the common thread in the purpose of religion - to unite and discover an atomicity to humanity -regardless of ANY garments- intellectual, spiritual, personally ? I'd add in genetics. Me ? I've derived a fine path out of Darwinism - for he simply said - ALL life is connected. I respect that, and indeed, this is WHY we need to ponder what we eat, when we eat it. Of COURSE avoid the lion, MAYBE eat the lion, but avoid the lion !

Another title:

Heartless America, the inside story at Abu Ghraib -

With a forward by John Ashcroft - Professor of Religious Studies at Pat Robertson's acclaimed Regent school of law.

Chapters to include:

End Days scenario for the economy

End Days scenario for emerging industries in the US now gone elsewhere because we didn't send a strong message in Copenhagen - of course - the word Copenhagen will be misspelled.

the initial run for “Going Rogue” was 1.5 million — and a list price of $25.99.

Not bad.

Governor of Alaska - MAYBE you make 2 million TOPS by End of the World

OR - hey- let's bring forth some good ole American old fashioned value Ollie North War Time Stories deliverance style- nothing new, no new breakthroughs in thinking, just some good ole lump in the throat - a Political Romance Novel.

Let's bring in a forward from Dan Quayle about the Golden days where there never was any domestic abuse.

How convenient it is for wife batterers to find Jesus - who will - 'Save' them - Jesus Sarah - what the hell did YOU do to need Jesus so much ?

People who NEED Jesus ? I only have to ask - what crime did YOU commit.

Typically you have to enter the prison system to find Jesus...

I suppose normal societal life in the good ole USA is enough for some to call it a prison - why ? oh my - classical - no, wrong word, strict adherence to the doctrine of the bible and nothing else.

This to me - the Palin crowd ? sounds like the West's version of the Taliban.

Except - imagine if Osama Bin Laden wrote a book.

His sales would blow Sarah out of the water - and she- I and YOU know it.

Isn't it interesting that this blog provides us news of Mrs. Palin's book of cut-and-paste public-domain content by cutting-and-pasting this report from Associated Press.

There' no original content anymore, just new re-packaging.

Posted by: 1EgoNemo | May 12, 2010 9:12 AM | Report abuse

Wow. A cut and paste job.

I realize she needs to take another "draw" from her supporters pockets, but jeez. She could at least put out something original.

Posted by: trident420 | May 12, 2010 9:19 AM | Report abuse

Remember when every story about Sarah was followed by comments from her worshippers about her being sure to be elected President in 2012? Don't see so much of that anymore.

Posted by: justmike | May 12, 2010 9:21 AM | Report abuse

What I'd REALLY like to know is what were Sarah's favorite, er, are some of her favorite crayon colors.

It's rather surprising she's of interest.

Or is it ?

Either way - she support it is End Days and can not be allowed to have access to the launch codes- simple as that.

Fox News loves to say "And the left is obsessed with Palin" I'd argue - gee, 2 books now ? She's really trying to get some exposure out there- all those speeches ? No, she's put herself on display - for WHAT is what most people ponder... Normal track ? Cash in ? sure- why not -but this person has a unique role here- the McCain campaign chose her as VP.

This choice by the McCain campaign has fueled every dollar Palin has seen since she quit as Governor.

She is no intellect as we have all seen. Just another way to bring in more money. She has become very greedy. Just quit giving her time in both print and electronic media. Maybe she'll just go away once and for all. Best thing that could happen to America.
