Every Congress member to get Rand Paul's book
A political organization founded by Texas congressman Ron Paul is distributing free copies of a new book by his son, Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, to every member of congress.
A spokesperson for Center Street, the book’s publisher, confirmed that volunteers from the Campaign for Liberty organization plan to give all 535 members a copy Rand Paul’s “The Tea Party Goes to Washington.” The book is being released on Tuesday.
“Obviously, we have a special relationship with Rand Paul,” said Campaign for Liberty’s senior vice president Jesse Benton. “We're a big fan of his and believe the book is going to be a great educational tool for members of congress.”
According to its Web site, the Campaign for Liberty’s mission is “to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity.”
Ron Paul launched Campaign for Liberty on June 13, 2008, after his campaign to become the 2008 Republican presidential candidate ended unsuccessfully.
His son’s political career has just begun. Rand Paul was sworn into office on Jan. 6, 2011. His book is largely a defense of the Tea Party movement.
