At 10 a.m. -- Senate Finance Committee holds hearing on welfare reform, focusing on women and poverty.

At 12 noon -- House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations holds hearing on egg recall.

At 2:15 p.m. -- Statement released from Federal Reserve Board's Federal Open Market Committee meeting on interest-rate and monetary policy.
