Economic agenda: Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011

At 8:30 a.m. -- The Labor Department releases data on inflation at the wholesale level in December.

At 8:30 a.m. -- The Labor Department releases data on weekly claims for unemployment insurance.

At 8:30 a.m. -- The Commerce Department releases data on the U.S. trade balance for November.

At 12:30 p.m. -- Commerce Secretary Gary Locke speaks on the economic relationship between the United States and China. The address comes just days before Chinese Prime Minister Hu Jintao begins a state visit.

At 1 p.m. -- Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairman Sheila C. Bair participate in an FDIC forum on small business lending.
