Handling the Wii
So I went to Nintendo right before the show closed for the day. I wanted to really spend some time with the Wii controller. I have mixed impressions.
It is cool. On games like Metroid -- which fully utilizes the "nunchuck" controller, it really adds another dimension to the gameplay. For example, there was a sequence where I needed to open a door. I first had to grip the handle. Then I had to pull it out (which I did with my right hand by actually making the gesture of "pulling on a handle). Then I had to turn the handle counter-clockwise. I did it just by slightly rotating my right hand in the air. When the lock was alligned the door was opened. Pretty slick.
On the flipside, there is a learning curve. And for most of us (who are used to conventional game controllers) its going to be a real challenge. Even yours truly had some difficulty.
