The Return of Rocketboom Girl

Frank Ahrens

Video blogger Amanda Congdon , who rose to Internet fame with her daily video blog (vlog) on Rocketboom, is taking her act to ABCNews.com, owned by Disney.

The quirky-cute Congdon, whose irreverant vlog captured tons of viewers, left Rocketboom in June over differences with management (i.e., the guy running the site). Something about her wanting to pursue acting. Talent: so tempermental!

Exactly none of Congdon's irreverent wit is on display in her quote on the ABCNews.com press release, unless she's being so opaquely ironic that it's beyond my comedy comprehension: "I am very pleased to be joining the Disney-ABC Television Group team. They are breaking new ground online and I am eager to forge ahead with them."

Rocketgirl goes corporate. Man, oh man.

Congdon will do a weekly vlog for ABCNews.com, the company said, and will be on ABC's 24-7 digital news service, ABC News Now .

NBC or CBS should go out and sign LonelyGirl15 and usher in the vLog Wars ...

Hey, wait a minute ... Maybe Katie Couric could start doing the CBS Evening News as a vLog ...

Yeah ...Bring it on!
