Your Favorite Video On TV? Not Always.

Devices to put Internet content on your TV are suddenly popular at CES. And away from it: Apple's new $299 "Apple TV," announced this morning in San Francisco, should make it a lot easier to watch iTunes movie downloads on your HDTV.
But will you be able to watch anything you want, or only what a company picks out for you?
Consider Sony's Bravia Internet Video Link, an adapter box it plans to sell for "a few hundred dollars" this summer. When plugged into new Sony Bravia HDTVs, it will stream AOL, Yahoo and Grouper Internet video to the screen - but not other Web video sources. You'll have to go elsewhere to watch your favorite YouTube clips on your TV.

Hey Rob - Thanks for the post. I've been watching your CES coverage, mainly because I'm close to purchasing a new Sony Bravia 1080p HDTV (40 or 46 inch). A quick question - I saw the info on the new Sony 70 incher, but did Sony debut any new 1080p models in the 40-46 range? If not, I'm probably going to take the plunge when the Super Bowl sales come around. If so, should I wait until spring? Or HDMI 1.3? Thanks for your great work!
