Halo 3: PR-a-palooza

Microsoft ain't holding back in the marketing for Halo 3, as I've already reported.


My copy of the game came today. It was packed in a huge military-green duffle bag that had my name stamped on it. Packed inside: A set of personalized dog tags, a first aid kit and a couple packs of military food rations. Microsoft sent the "legendary edition" of the game, which comes inside a replica of the Master Chief's helmet.

7-Eleven also sent along some of the stuff that'll be hyping the game in their stores, including a Halo-themed Mountain Dew bottle and the Halo-themed Slurpee cups.

TGIF. Good times. I'll play the game some this weekend and post some thoughts & impressions Monday.

Sounds like a great Friday.

Any way, if you have XBOX LIVE, make a profile at Bungie.net so we can see you play. PLease post a video to your file share, make a custom map with forge and enjoy yourself beyond all else. (Explore the game beyond single player, this game is a barbed hook, it will make you a fien) With forge you can make racing games, baseball games, and billions of other alterations. Also, make games with elevated items to grab like Mario, where you have to jump to grab a gun.

Please let us know in particular if it suffered the way Halo 2 did compared to Halo 1, losing the overarching overmatched-lone-cowboy feel in favor of a more cartoonish approach with ... ugh ... boss fights. Halo 1 didn't need that - the tactical gameplay was good enough. We went from gregorian, lonely pseudo-religous music to annoying and repetitve rock-like guitar riffs, and the gameplay was the same.
