Beatles Songs Coming to Video Game

Mike Musgrove

A new music videogame dedicated to The Beatles is in the works and set for release next year, according to an announcement this morning from the band's management company and the upcoming game's developers.

The game is being developed by Harmonix, the studio that makes the popular Rock Band music games. It's not clear yet how closely the in-the-works title will resemble that game; the press release describes it as an "unprecedented, experiential progression through and celebration of the music and artistry of The Beatles."

The Beatles have been one of the last major holdouts -- if not the last major holdout -- as other major bands have allowed their work to be used in the latest versions of games like Rock Band.

"I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out," said Sir Paul McCartney in a statement.
