Controversial Religious Figure Dies
Marcial Maciel, 87, who founded the powerful, secretive and conservative Legionaries of Christ religious order, has died. His order declined to provide further details.
Maciel's career ended in disgrace because of long-lingering sex abuse allegations brought by several of his former seminarians. In 2006, he was disciplined by Pope Benedict XVI and ordered never again to give mass in public.
The Wall Street Journal once wrote a fascinating account of Maciel's power.

He was a "con-man." I hope God has mercy on him and that the cult methods die with him. The LC is suing Regain trying to harass, intimidate, bankrupt and shut them up.
