Notable deaths of 2008

We're not doing a notable deaths of the Washington area in 2008 (I was the only one here interested in doing it, and to do it properly it should be a communal effort). So readers will be missing some significant local people, but the LA Times has a nice retrospective available.

In addition, the chief obit writer at Toronto's Globe and Mail has written a lovely piece on the craft of obit writing.
