Socks the Cat

The most noteworthy celebrity death of the day happens to be of a creature who lived in the most prestigious address in the country and endured the media's glare without ever saying a bad thing about anyone.
Socks the Cat, the White House pet of the Clinton family, died Friday in suburban Maryland. He was 18 -- or somewhere around 125 in cat years. The Post had the story first, thanks to Al Kamen's reporting. Socks had been living in retirement in Hollywood, Md., with Bill Clinton's former secretary, Betty Currie.
For those of us who are cat fanciers, here's a full 18-inch obituary about Socks from the Associated Press.
