Peter Falk Family Battle

Adam Bernstein

The LA Times reports an ugly family feud between Peter Falk's wife and daughter as the 81-year-old actor suffers from advanced dementia.

Though Falk is mostly remembered for "Columbo," he was harrowingly good in a wide range of films. I think mostly of his portrait of a merciless thug in "Murder Inc." (1960), which brought him an Oscar nod, and "A Woman Under the Influence" (1974), directed by his close friend John close friend Cassavetes. The second offered a particularly vivid example of Mr. Falk's talent as a blue-collar worker who starts to lose control of his wife to a dementia-like illness.
