Blues Queen Koko Taylor Dies
Grammy Award-winning blues wailer Koko Taylor died today of complications from gastro-intestinal surgery in Chicago. A shout-out to Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, who has a story up. Here's the queen herself, with Little Walter, on Wang Dang Doodle.

I wish a fond, but sad farewell to you, Koko.
You were the greatest female blues singer of my generation. You will always stand tall with the great male blues legends: Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Hound Dog Taylor, etc.
I hope that somewhere in the great beyond, you are blowing audiences away with classics like "Wang Dang Doodle" and my personal favorite, "You Can Have My Husband, But Please Don't Take My Man"!

OH NO! What terrible news.
I always thought she was the greatest of the Chess blues vocalists, never mind the best *female* this or that. Just the best.
Huge loss. I'll remember and miss her.

I will never forget at the Fort-Lauderdale blues fest,,when I told you I loved you,,and said you loved me to.
