The last surviving member of the legendary Ink Spots, Huey Long, has died. He set up a museum which has a lot more information about his life.

There's nothing like a good barkeep, or publican as they say in Ireland, and Dan O'Connell seems to have fit that bill. Not interested in simply selling more drink, he once said: "As I see it, the people, the music and the dancing are the culture, and all three are crucial."

Those RAF pilots during World War II were a fierce bunch. Here's a fellow, Wing Commander Ken Mackenzie, who ran out of ammunition, but didn't stop fighting. He rammed an enemy plane.

Let's raise a glass to Jean Hugel, who helped resurrect the Alsatian wine business after World War II.
