The Daily Goodbye

This just in: TV's Tonight Show sidekick Ed McMahon has died of cancer.

On a morning when all of Washington DC is mourning the people who died in a needless subway system crash, we turn to other deaths around the world.

Neda Agha-Soltan, the Iranian woman who died on video, has become a cause celebre for those concerned about the street demonstrations against the Iranian presidential elections.

Khalid Hussein, who helped plan the 985 hijacking of the Achille Lauro cruise ship during which an American passenger was killed, has died in an Italian jail.

A man who embodied the description "bon vivant" died in Pass Christian, Miss., near his real hometown of New Orleans. Charles Edouard "Chappy" Hardy " is one of the reasons I moved to New Orleans: He knew everybody, and he knew where all the bodies were buried," said the actor John Goodman.

Great line in this piece: "Nobody gets to choose the photo on their final exit visa." It's an article about enjoying reading obits. And with that, farewell for now.
