Tim Russert Reprise
This past Saturday marked the one year anniversary of the death of Tim Russert, former "Meet the Press" host. Within the past several days, the outpouring of appreciations across news platforms has been vast. Newsday.com published a list of the top seven things we have learned since Russert's passing, including that Russert would not have been a fan of Twitter; David Gregory, the new host of "Meet the Press," asked Vice President Joe Biden to share his thoughts and memories of Russert on the show yesterday; and Chris Matthews remembered Russert in his own words on Hardball.
The news media seems to love anniversaries. We mark the passing each year of the September 11 attacks, revisit the horrible events of the Columbine shootings ten years later, and still mull over the loss of Princess Diana.
But has the media gone too far this time? Once Russert had been remembered last year with articles, videos and a eulogy in song by his favorite singer, Bruce Springsteen, which aired on CNN, had the news media done enough? Let us know your thoughts.
