Spotlight: Tierney and Dole
Maura Tierney, whose role as Dr. Abby Lockhart on the medical drama, "ER," ended last year, is undergoing medical evaluation for an unspecified illness, according to NBC. The actress was set to star in a new NBC drama, "Parenthood," slated to premiere on Sept. 23. The network has ceased production for the next eight weeks and already announced that "Mercy," another new series starring Michelle Trachtenberg, will take its place.
On the political scene, former GOP presidential candidate Bob Dole was hospitalized late last week at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. He initially sought treatment for heart trouble but surgeons performed surgery on his left leg which had open sores. The one-time senator, who is 85-years-old, received a skin graft on his leg today. According to his law firm, Alston & Bird, his heart is fine.
