Thomas Hoving

Thomas Hoving, the former director of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, who helped create the huge blockbuster exhibition, museum stores and the modern museum-going experience, has died at 78. Hoving was a huge influence in the museum world, even though he led the Met for only 10 years, from 1967 to 1977.
A full obituary will follow.
